What makes a connection?

Now I love my stats, whenever I do a blog, I enjoy looking at where folks come from, how many folks are interacting with the blog, etc, etc.

Now with Twitter stats you get interactions, which I describe as counting the amount of people you see as you walk down the street. Yes! your paths have crossed or you have come into the vicinity of someone else, but you haven't connected, for twitter though if your tweet showed up on someone elses device then it is an interaction.

For me a connection is when someone actually takes the effort to befriend or follow. So like the above analogy where you have seen maybe a hundred people in the street but as you pass one or two of them, and you nod and say hello to each other. That's a connection.

Now, on the internet you can go befriending everyone with the hope of them befriending you back, this is something I will desist from, I will befriend or follow things of interest or what I might find on my travel. But not a mass be my friend, be my friend, be my friend tagathon.

Though it won't stop advertising, so with twitter, I will tweet using the trending hash tags, or go to websites and link back to the blog. Which I guess is the same as busking on a street corner, the interaction being if someone stops by to listen.

I hope this clarifies, and I hope you have made a new connection, all the ways on how too are on the left hand side of this blog.

Thanks for reading.
